The partnership for the 2022-2024 period foresees the development of several joint initiatives.
Worten has teamed up with Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) to create a logistics laboratory, which will be set up on the Técnico campus in Taguspark, in Oeiras. The partnership for the 2022-2024 period foresees the development of several joint initiatives, such as an annual plan for workshops and training for employees.
“Focused on the area of industrial and logistics management, the partnership is based on four strategic axes - Innovation, Social Responsibility, Talent and Empowerment - which include Research & Development projects, University-Industry workshops, support for Master's tests and renumbered internships , donation of equipment to provide more and better educational means and training and professional updating for Worten employees”, reads the company's statement.
This partnership has already taken its first steps with the attribution of the Worten Merit Prize in Warehouse and Materials Management, the 1st edition of which distinguished a group of five students from the IST campus Taguspark, from the discipline of the Master in Industrial Engineering and Management. The challenge consisted of finding a solution to improve Worten's warehouse operations, which included a project that focuses on automating services so that, at peak times such as Christmas and Black Friday, everything is structured to provide a better response.
“Worten has been focusing on the supply chain for a long time, which turned out to be a very relevant investment in the last 2 years of the pandemic and which led to the exponential growth of e-commerce. It is, therefore, the company's objective to continue to invest heavily in this area and nothing better than to be side by side with those who have the expertise and follow the trends in the sector so that we can respond with the speed that the market demands”, explains Pedro Chainho , Head of Supply Chain at Worten.
For the president of Instituto Superior Técnico, Rogério Colaço, “this agreement opens a new door at Técnico: a partnership centered on the area of industrial management and logistics, which had not yet been explored by the network of partners and where Técnico has a competence very large".
